From COUNTERPUNCH: Bluster vs. Determination: Resurgent Russia
As has been shown in Georgia recently, the Russians are in no mood to take any nonsense from anyone, and are intent on once again being a power to be reckoned with. The declaration by the psychotic Dick Cheney that the recent Russian operation in the territory of South Ossetia “must not go unanswered” was silly bluster, and the remarks by Bush and Condoleezza Rice about Russian “aggression” and so forth are equally absurd.
From COUNTERPUNCH: Calamity in the Name of Hegemony
Is War With Russia on the Agenda?
Thinking about the massive failure of the US media to report truthfully is sobering. The United States, bristling with nuclear weapons and pursuing a policy of world hegemony, has a population that is kept in the dark--indeed brainwashed--about the most important and most dangerous events of our time.
Russian soldiers behave exactly the way the world knows it from earlier times: brutally killing civilians and journalists, robbing and looting. They prove the sound reason to fear them. Despite of empirical evidences, the Russian propaganda is strong and finds many supporters. Russia shows the ugly face of barbarians.
