Media outlets including CNN jumped on Georgia President Mikhail Saakashvili's claim to have witnessed "first hand" two Russian planes bombing the city, and reported it as fact. Footage shot by RT shows a ghost town, where a statue of Stalin towers over the main square. Russia's UN ambassador said the allegations were part of a "disinformation campaign."

Gun Toting Russian Soldiers Rob Israeli Journalists In Gori

Four Israeli journalists, including reporters from Haaretz, Channel Two and Y-net,  were robbed at gunpoint by Russian soldiers in the Georgian city of Gori on Thursday. None of the Israelis was injured in the incident, which occurred as a number of foreign journalists gathered near a Russian checkpoint stationed at the entrance to the city. The Russian troops opened fire on the journalists without warning, trying to disperse the crowd. Meanwhile, a Russian soldier armed with a Kalashnikov rifle approached the vehicle in which the Israeli journalists were traveling. H epointed his weapon at the Ynet reporter and demanded the keys to the car, shot towards the journalis's foot and then fled in the car.

Turkish television released footage showing journalists travelling between Gori and Tshkinvali, an area where Georgian and Russian troops were firing at each other.
One journalist was shot in the head while it's thought five journalists have died during the conflict.
